dnata is leveraging artificial intelligence to help overall logistical efficiency, digitisation and cargo capacity optimisation for Etihad Cargo’s daily flights departing from Singapore.
dnata has partnered with technology solutions provider Speedcargo to deliver cutting-edge cargo services for the Abu Dhabi-based carrier at Singapore Changi Airport.
Singapore is the first station in dnata’s network to implement AI-based solutions ‘Cargo Eye’ and ‘Assemble’, which have been installed in its facilities. The move follows Etihad’s decision to implement the AI-based technology after successful trials, with both solutions planned to be integrated into dnata’s existing warehouse management system.
Cargo Eye uses vision-based 3D technology to scan and capture a cargo’s exact dimensions, volume data, images, and labels to provide a comprehensive digital record. This information is then fed into Assemble which can create a digital plan for dnata’s cargo handling teams to find the optimal method of building a pallet.
dnata said it is working with partners to roll out the service at other global stations. The company currently serves more than 50 airlines at SIN with a team of 1,500 professionals, handling over 20,000 flights, providing over 3.75 million meals, and moving over 250,000 tonnes of cargo annually.
Charles Galloway, regional CEO, airport operations Asia Pacific, said the company is proud to lead the digitisation of cargo processes through innovative technology solutions.
“Working alongside Speedcargo, Cargo Eye and Assemble will enable us to provide Etihad Cargo and its customers with digital audit trails of how their cargo has been handled, improving efficiency and providing a quality end-to-end service. We will continue to create value and enhance our service offerings through digitalisation.”
