UN’s Conference of the Parties has appointed Kuehne+Nagel as the official logistics partner for the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference or COP 28, happening in Dubai on November 30-December 12.
The event is expected to convene over 100,000 visitors and will showcase Kuehne+Nagel’s capabilities in expo and events logistics, as well as its commitment to its science-based emission reduction targets and efforts to decarbonise logistics.
The logistics operator will be the sole ground handler at Expo City Dubai. It will be responsible for steering all activities on-site, including building country pavilions and stages for panel discussions. The team will also support participants with end-to-end and local logistics services, such as international freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing and delivery.
Damian Raczynski, National Manager UAE and Oman at Kuehne+Nagel, said the appointment underpins the company’s efforts to further develop this segment in the Middle East, an area which boasts “great infrastructure to accommodate this industry.”
The forwarder added its appointment can be credited not only to its logistics expertise but also its ambition to decarbonise the logistics sector. The forwarder has committed to the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi) and is focused on making low-emission fuels more widely available in the market.
“Our industry needs to unlock new technologies to have more and better solutions. This is a challenge for which all actors across societies and industries need to work together. That is why the yearly Conference of the Parties is so important, alongside other forums and coalitions that bring actors together to address climate change,” the management noted.
