Singapore Changi Airport saw its air freight throughput slip 4 percent year on year in the third quarter as falling demand in previous months gradually eased during the quarter, led by improvements in trans-shipment volumes.
The airport recorded 451,000 tonnes of air cargo for the third quarter, with September volumes staying flat at 154,000 tonnes, on par with what was carried in the same month last year.
For the period from July to September, Changi’s top five air cargo markets comprised Australia, China, Hong Kong, India and the US, with traffic from India registering a strong growth of 21 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
Aircraft movements in the third quarter reached 85,600, representing 89 percent of the same period in 2019.
