DHL Global Forwarding is betting on Japan’s push to triple its semiconductor sales within this decade, as it officially opened a new airfreight office at Kitakyushu Airport.
The office will specifically handle the import, export, and domestic transportation of semiconductor shipments in response to growing transportation demands from related companies surrounding the Kyushu area.
DHL said it has established specialists in semiconductor transportation at key Japanese airports including Narita, Nagoya, Osaka, Chitose, and Fukuoka. The company offers air freight and air charter services from Japan for companies in the perishables, life sciences and healthcare sector, as well as industrial projects.
Japan is shifting its attention back towards its local semiconductor industry with a goal of tripling semiconductor sales from 2020 until 2030 to over US$108 billion. DHL said its new office at Kitakyushu Airport marks a significant step towards refining and streamlining its airfreight services to support the revival and innovation in the sector.
“For us, it goes beyond providing our expertise,” said Karsten Michaelis, President/Representative Director, DHL Global Forwarding Japan.
“It is also about helping to amplify the region’s manufacturing capability. We are confident about the prospects it holds for both our organizations and Japan’s manufacturing industry.”
