Vietjet and UAE-based aircraft lessor and financier Novus Aviation Capital have signed memorandum of understandings (MOU) during the recent 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) on climate action in Dubai.
The MoU aims to explore the establishment of aircraft financing and leasing vehicle for Vietjet’s 15 newly ordered aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, which are due to be delivered starting 2024. The same leasing vehicle could also be used to finance Vietnamese carrier’s future orderbook, the airline noted.
The agreement also includes possible collaboration on developing the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Vietnam. Vietjet will join forces with SAF One, a dedicated platform established by Novus, to engage in research and development, as well as supply and usage of SAF in the country.
SAF One was launched by Novus in May 2023, in partnership with Sencirc Holdings, an ADGM (Abu Dhabi Global Market) investment company with a portfolio of holdings in the circular economy.
