Etihad Cargo is responding to growing demand for the reliable transport of high-value electronic devices with the launch of new premium product SecureTech.
The new product will be available for booking on 1 March and promises the safe and secure transportation of consumer electronics, including mobile phones, laptops, tablets and other lithium battery-powered devices.
Products transported via SecureTech are monitored during the build-up and break-down of palettes in secure and controlled storage areas at the origin, during transit and at the destination. Constant surveillance is provided by security personnel or CCTV systems, ensuring only authorised personnel have access to shipments during transportation.
Etihad recently completed its CEIV certifications for premium cargo verticals with the addition of the Li-batt certification earlier this year. The airline said it saw a surge in demand for capacity given a significant increase in the number of mobile phone shipments from India, and the launch of the new product is expected to fill in the demand.
“The latest market data suggests India’s electronic exports exceeded $20 billion in 2023, with mobile phones making up 52 per cent of all electronic exports. Other top exporters of electronic devices included China and Vietnam,” explained Leonard Rodrigues, acting managing director at Etihad Cargo,
With the launch of the new premium product, the airline plans to add new routes and increase frequencies in these markets.
