Export cargo registered 37,176 tonnes, a decline by 10 per cent against same period last year. Import cargo volume for September was 16,213 cent from last year. Trans-shipment cargo volume was 304 tonnes; down 23 per cent when compared against corresponding period in 2007.
Th e cumulative tonnage throughput from January to September 2008 was 465,648 tonnes, which was comparable to last year. Accumulated export cargo volume was 315,104 tonnes; slightly up 1 per cent while import cargo volume was about the same as last year at 147,359 tonnes. Th e total transshipment volume up to September 2008 was 3,185 tonnes, down 14 per cent against same period last year.
AAT GM, Planning & Services, Nelson Lee said, “The softening financial economy is affecting the entire aviation sector, cargo volumes were low for the third quarter.”
