CEO Robert Strodel of Indian cargo newcomer Flyington Freighters has left the carrier. He was appointed CEO October 2007 to get the Hyderabad-based airline off the ground. However, due to rising fuel prices and the delayed delivery of the ordered 12 Airbus A300-200 freighters the airline’s owner Deccan has reduced their support notably during recent months and without a clear strategy, an exodus of leading managers took place. Parallel to Strodel’s departure the VP maintenance and engineering, head of global marketing and VP operations all left the company. Due to these circumstances industry watchers doubt that Flyington Freighter will ever take to the air. Meanwhile, Strodel, the former Etihad Airways and Arabian cargo carrier Liwa Air CEO has departed for Moscow where the Austrian-born manager will join Russian Air Bridge Cargo (ABC). His future role and position within the management team have yet to be defined.
