After meetings with Airbus, the CAAC has designated the three main airports for the A 380 as being Beijing, Shanghai/Pudong and Guangzhou/ Baiyun.

Nine other airports have been nominated as alternates; Hohhot, Tianjin, Taiyuan, Hangzhou, Hongqiao, Shenzhen, Gulin, Wuhan and Nanjing. With the exception of the latter three of this group, planning for the reconstruction and expansion of the six airports, to accommodate the A 380, were implemented and must be ready by 2008.
