Strong December activity at Rickenbacker Airport closed 2006 with an annual increase.

Rickenbacker reported a 19.7 percent increase in December cargo to close the year at over 250 million pounds (113.400 tonnes), a 0.7 percent increase over the 2005 figure. Rickenbacker also handled a 32.3 percent increase in commercial cargo aircraft landings during 2006.

Rickenbacker is a multi-modal cargo airport that features a network of freight forwarders and cargo airlines such as FedEx, UPS, Evergreen International, Kalitta and Atlas as well as a US Foreign-Trade Zone and numerous industrial parks.
