Air freight continued to be impacted by slowdown across Asian export markets and oil producing economies, according to Airports Council International (ACI), with July freight volumes flat in Asia-Pacific with zero per cent growth and the Middle East recording a decrease of -0.9 per cent.
Manila (MNL) delivered the highest growth rate among both region at +15 per cent driven by strong domestic freight volumes. The top three largest cargo airports in the region – Hong Kong (HKG) saw volumes decline 1.9 per cent, year-on-year, while second ranked Shanghai Pudong (PVG) recorded a 0.7 per cent decline and third-ranked Dubai (combined DXB and DWC) reported a 3.4 per cent gain.
