Let’s move away from aviation for a moment as we ponder upon living in uncertain times – economic turmoil, political unress, terrorism, racial intolerance, natural catastrophe and what have you. Its almost certain to read or view such unpleasant news daily these days.
The tragedy that struck UK last month when a home-made explosive went off at the Manchester Arena during a music concert, injured over 100 people and killed 22, of whom included an innocent eight year old.
Speculation in the aftermath doesn’t usually yield a clear reason or answer to why someone would do what they’ve done. It was no different this time round. Actually, some of the reasons given were downright infuriating. Unfortunately, it’s always the innocent who get caught in the crossfire and their loved ones that suffer.
Evolution has brought about many good things, but with them comes the consequence of technology landing in the wrong hands and being misused. The tech era has also exposed us to cyber attacks which in recent years have become rampant in every aspect of life, include transport and logistics. However, it is fascinating to see all the new products and services on offer from the tech world, some of which were on show at Air Cargo Europe (ACE) and Transport Logistics 2017. In this issue of Payload Asia, we are featuring the ACE supplement and provide a summary of the hot topics that were discussed during the four-day event.
We’re also taking a closer look at how Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) maintains their global presence and provides solutions to growing e-commerce demands worldwide. As a leading air cargo terminal, Hactl has maintained its global stand as a benchmark for ground handling services. Since its inception in 1976, Hactl provides unique world-class facilities, highly efficient operations and innovative technologies.
