Heathrow Cargo launched a new load consolidation app that is part of the new Heathrow CargoCloud. Th e new app is the UK’s fi rst of its kind, and a key part of the airport’s plan to reduce the impact of airport-related traffi c on the community. With the app, cargo operators will be able to consolidate freight loads coming into and out of Heathrow, improving efficiency and reducing the number of trucks and emissions on the roads surrounding the airport.
Companies that subscribe to Heathrow CargoCloud will be able to exchange and share information about any spare capacity on their vehicles, or ask for help on a load they need to be transported. Th e app will work to match them and they then contact each other offl ine and discuss the opportunity. Th e Heathrow CargoCloud is built on Nallian’s Data Sharing Platform.
Nick Platts, Head of Cargo at Heathrow said “CargoCloud offers benefi ts to the whole industry. For our cargo partners it allows them to reduce their costs, our local communities will experience less congestion and improved air quality, and Heathrow will build on its strength as an airport of choice for cargo.”
Jean Verheyen, CEO of Nallian who worked in partnership with Heathrow to create the app also said “This vision is made concrete through the new tool to reduce emissions and traffic congestions. Tomorrow, shared data can be used to further synchronise cross-company processes, allowing clusters of independent companies to achieve efficiency levels that are historically reserved to fully integrated players only.”
