At the first pre-launched event in Singapore, LOT announced its strategy for the new non-stop service between two countries. Direct flights from Warsaw to Singapore will be launched starting 15 May 2018. New route will be operated by state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner first three and then four times a week.
The pre-launched event was organized in Singapore together with the Embassy of Poland in Singapore and Polish Tourism Organization, with Calvin Phua, Deputy Secretary of Singapore Ministry of Transport as Guest of Honour.
“We keep our word and continue expanding our network of Asian connections, opening our first route to Southeast Asia.” said Rafał Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines.
Ambassador of Poland to Singapore Zenon Kosiniak-Kamysz added: “The long awaited connection is a significant addition to connectivity between Poland and Singapore. It will not only boost tourist traffic and people-to-people ties, but also, very importantly, enable further growth of our business cooperation and bilateral trade. With Poland’s growing importance as a logistics and transportation hub in Europe and Singapore’s prominent position as regional trade centre for South East Asia, the new direct connection will conveniently link also our respective regions, thus creating many opportunities for Polish and Singaporean businesses to cooperate not in only each other’s domestic markets but also on the regional scale”.
This way, LOT will guarantee the shortest connection from Singapore not only to Polish cities but also to over 70 destinations in Eastern, Central and Western Europe.
Singapore is one of the most buoyant economies of the region. With a GDP per capita of USD 90.1 thousand per year, it is the third richest country in the world. The Asian Tiger is also the largest investor in Poland of all ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nation) members and fifth of all Asian countries. Singapore is also ranked as the sixth external investor in the European Union.
The new connection between Singapore and Warsaw will be operated exclusively by the most modern wide-body aircraft in the world – Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The launch of the connection from Warsaw to Singapore is part of the profitable growth strategy which has been implementing by LOT since the beginning of 2016. That year only, it started operating flights on 23 new routes, among others to Tokyo and Seoul. In 2017, LOT announced the launch of other 20 routes, including from Warsaw to Los Angeles, Newark and Astana, and from Cracow to Chicago.
