Emirates now has 200 wide-body aircraft on its Boeing order book after the airline announced a firm interest to add five new Boeing 777-200LR freighters to its fleet, with delivery slated between 2024 and 2025.

The agreement, worth over US$1.7 billion at list prices, will see the delivery of two units to be delivered in 2024 and the remaining three units in 2025.

The new order follows the US$1 billion investment the airline made during last year’s Dubai Airshow, which included two new 777Fs that have already joined the airline’s all-Boeing fleet this year. The carrier also plans to convert 10 Boeing 777-300ERs into cargo aircraft with conversions scheduled to start next year.

Emirates was the launch customer for the Boeing 777 freighter and it currently operates 11 of the aircraft type in its fleet. The carrier also offers bellyhold cargo capacity on its widebody 777 and A380 passenger aircraft. 

Emirates Group recorded its highest half-year performance for this year as revenue flew 128 percent to AED 56.3 billion (US$ 15.3 billion), with record half-year profit of AED 4.2 billion (US$ 1.2 billion).
