Lödige Industries has completed the installation of comprehensive technical equipment for a new ULD handling facility at Brisbane Airport. The new air freight terminal there will start operations in 2023

The material handling system for the nearly 5,000-sqm facility was designed to accommodate perishables as well as general cargo and exports from Queensland. The new system includes truck docks, for loading and unloading cargo to different types of trucks, an intelligent and efficient transport system consisting of several roller decks, castor decks and ball decks including ram protection as well as elevating workstations.

The equipment provided can handle temperature-sensitive perishable goods and comply with safety regulations for work with forklift operations and labour work in the immediate vicinity of the facility. The truck docks and elevating workstations are completely powered by electricity, which fits the sustainable approach of the new Brisbane air cargo terminal.

Lödige Industries claimed on-time completion for the project, complete with an on-site service contract covering the inspection and maintenance of the ULD handling system as part of the overall package. The German company has a significant presence in Australia. In 2021, it acquired MecFab Enterprises which specialises in plant manufacturing and airport maintenance.
