Asiana Airlines will join Hartsfield- Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s growing list of all-cargo carriers starting 13 September, the airport announced recently. Asiana will operate a B747- 400 freighter with four weekly flights to Seoul, South Korea.

“Asiana Airlines is proud to call the city of Atlanta home and add Hartsfield- Jackson to our global operations network,” said Hyung S. Park, Asiana Airlines’ Atlanta regional manager.

“Our cargo hub in Georgia will give companies such as Kia Motors, Hyundai Motor Company and others in the Southeastern region direct access to customers worldwide, including connectivity to South America.”

Fuel shortage sees freighters overflying Anchorage Cargo carriers have been increasingly overflying Anchorage’s airport because of a shortage of aviation fuel. A local refinery shut down a processing unit last year when the industry collapsed as a result of the global economic recession. Although the unit is slated to begin operations shortly, it will only operate until October.
