It was just bound to happen. It’s all fun and games until somebody gets hurt, in this case when their feelings get hurt and as things inevitably follow, emotional hurt leads to physical hurt. A US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screener is facing an assault rap after he allegedly beat a co-worker who joked about the size of the man’s genitalia after he walked through a security scanner. So much for the official pronouncements that the resolution is not high enough to make out detailed body parts, or that it will be automatically blurred so as to not revealtoo much.
TSA screener Rolando Negrin is facing assault charges in a case that involves thecontroversial, full body scanners being adopted in airports, especially in the US,as part of increased security measures. The images produced by the powerfulx-ray scanners are detailed enough toshow breast implants, have been dubbed“virtual strip-searching†and “perv-camsâ€Â.
Negrin reportedly passed through the machine during a training session on how to use the device, and the revealing x-ray image of him produced by the x-ray prompted teasing from co-workers, who joked about the size of the man’s genitalia.
“The x-ray revealed that [Negrin] has a small penis and co-workers made fun of him on a daily basis,†the Associated Press noted, citing the police report. Following his arrest, Negrin told police that he “could not take the jokes anymore and lost his mind.†Negrin allegedly confronted his colleague, Hugo Osorno, in a parking lot after work and assaulted him with a police baton while demanding an apology.
While one cannot help but feel sorry for the man, not merely due to his errr, ummm, diminished stature, but because he is now world famous for that very — small — attribute. Of course he didn’t really help himself, as beating somebody up pretty much guaranteed making it into the headlines.
But digging deep into the Bellyacher cesspool of proverbs, we have this to say…“in life, it’s not the size of the scanning machine, it’s how you use it that counts.â€Â
