Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its position in the Nordic region with the addition of Helsinki (HEL) to its cargo network plus additional frequency to Copenhagen (CPH), starting 28 September.
The airline will fly its A321F freighters on a new route from Frankfurt to Copenhagen via Helsinki every Thursday, in addition to the existing FRA-CPH freighter service on Mondays.
The new service, with flight number LH8354, will offer 28 tonnes of cargo capacity and will arrive in HEL and CPH in the late evening and night respectively, offering late cut-off times and an early morning direct connection from Frankfurt (FRA). The routings will allow late deliveries in HEL and CPH on D3 and offer connections from FRA next morning, Lufthansa noted.
The HEL-CPH service will operate once a week together with a second weekly frequency from CPH to FRA for commercial cargo, on flight number LH8355.
Lufthansa said the geographic positioning of Nordic countries between Europe and North America makes them essential for international freight transportation, including high-value exports liketechnology, pharmaceuticals, machinery and seafood.
The German carrier plans to add a further connection to Stockholm (ARN) in the near future.
“We are very pleased about the extension of the new connections. It reflects what we want to offer with our A321F fleet: fast services across borders matching the exact needs in terms of routing and schedule as per the customers’ requirements and their transportation needs,” said Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo.
