Air Astana has extended its contract with Frankfurt-based ULD-service provider Jettainer until 2014. The carrier has been using the services of Jettainer for nearly three years. The decision was driven by Air Astana’s desire to trim costs by reducing the number of its required ULDs by five per cent, the Kazakhstanbased carrier said. Air Astana is the first Asian carrier in Jettainer’s network. Air Astana operates a fleet of B767-300, B757-200, A321, A320, A319 and F50 aircraft. Jettainer’s present customers also include Alitalia, Condor, Leisure Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency, Swiss International Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways. Lufthansa Cargo holds a 67 per cent share in Jettainer, with the company holding the remainder itself.
