The ground-breaking initiative recognises the importance for air cargo service providers to gain a more complete understanding of the needs of shippers, TIACA said in a statement. TIACA says it will provide a forum to shippers to get closer to existing and prospective air logistics partners to exchange ideas, discuss changing needs and challenges, and to develop new business opportunities.
TIACA plans to approach shippers around the world to ensure it attracts global representation of their views and needs and they will be offered the opportunity to actively participate in its events, starting with its International Air Cargo Forum & Exposition in Amsterdam, 2-4 November 2010.
TIACA’s free membership offer defines shippers as a manufacturer, wholesaler/distributor, retailer, or the ultimate importer/original exporter.
“Our industry talks about the importance of listening to customers but we are taking action that makes that even easier,†said Ulrich Ogiermann, chairman of TIACA. “Similarly, shippers often claim that their voice is not heard by airlines and forwarders so I hope they will take this opportunity to become members of TIACA and to participate proactively in the Association.
