Afriqiyah Airways flight enroute from Johannesburg to London Gatwick crashed in Tripoli early Wednesday morning while on final approach, killing all but one onboard according to reports. Cargo up in April at BAA airports despite ash closure
The British Airports Authority says that despite the disruption from Iceland's volcanic ash cloud which closed UK airspace for several days, cargo tonnage in April was up 6.2 per cent on last year reflecting what it said is the underlying strength of the air cargo business. Passenger traffic slumped by 22.7 per cent last month as a direct result of the ash cloud. Chip sales forecast to grow 30%
Global semiconductor sales, which have declined in the last two years, are set to rebound strongly with growth of 30.6 per cent this year, the iSuppli market research group says in a new forecast. The US government is proposing to award Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines with routes to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, the Department of Transportation said Friday. Frankfurt Airport (FRA), owned and managed by Fraport AG, closed the first quarter of 2010 with a 33.5 per cent growth for the first three months of the year.
