AirAsia X secures permission for US service
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded Malaysia’s long-haul, low cost carrier AirAsia X a Foreign Air Carrier Permit as well as Route Exemption ahead of its planned launch of flights to the US from 1 November. EVA Air signs LOI for five B777 Freighters
Taiwan’s EVA Air has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Boeing for the purchase of five B777Fs at the Paris Air Show recently. The commitment, valued at more than US$1.5 billion at list prices, represents the first B777 Freighters to join the Taiwanese operator’s cargo fleet which currently consists of eight ageing B747-400Fs. China Airlines’ newest B777-300ER landed at Le Bourget, France last month marking the debut of China Airlines’ new twin-aisle aircraft at the Paris Air Show. Jetstar Hong Kong's application rejected
Qantas Airways’ hopes of launching a new low-cost carrier in Hong Kong have been essentially quashed after waiting nearly two years for a decision, as the territory’s Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) rejected on 25 June the application from Qantas to start a new budget airline – Jetstar Hong Kong – on the basis that the ultimate control of the airline would be in Australia and mainland China. Myanmar Nat’l readies for int’l debut
Myanmar National Airlines celebrated the delivery of its first next-generation B737-800 leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing arm of GE.
