United Airlines today announced the appointment of Jan Krems as president of United Cargo and vice president United Airlines. Krems takes over the role held by Robbie Anderson who was president of United Cargo since 2010. Singapore Airlines sees slight cargo growth
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has reported that its overall cargo load factor in May 2014 increased by 0.9 percentage points year-on-year to 62.9 per cent. Cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres) was 0.1 per cent lower compared with capacity reduction of 1.6 per cent. Airfreight rates stabilised in April, holding onto gains made in March as Asian factories reopened following the Chinese New Year holiday period, according to Drewry in its latest Sea & Air Shipping Insight. Etihad Cargo commenced a weekly freighter service to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 13 June 2014. On the return sector to Abu Dhabi, the freighter will also stop in Nairobi, Kenya. Cathay sees May cargo jump 14% y-o-y
Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried 138,448 tonnes of cargo and mail in May, an increase of 13.9 per cent compared to the same month last year. The cargo and mail load factor rose by 1.9 percentage points to 63 per cent.
