Hapag-Lloyd-CSAV merger is 4th largest container liner
Hapag-Lloyd and the Chilean Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) are joining forces, by merging CSAV´s container business activities into Hapag-Lloyd, becoming the fourth-largest liner shipping company in the world. Asia-Europe container volumes continue upward trend
CLARKSON Research's Container Intelligence Monthly predicts mainlane trade volumes on the Asia-Europe headhaul route will grow seven per cent to 15.6 million TEU in 2015, after the tradelane recorded 8 per cent year-on-year growth in the first nine months of this year. The increase follows an uptick in volumes in the second half of 2013, with northern European imports giving the strongest performance. Cosco Wins US$30M Livestock Carrier Contract
Singapore-based Cosco Group has through its subsidiary Cosco (Guangdong) Shipyard Co., Ltd., secured a contract worth US$30 million to build one 4,500 square metre livestock carrier for an unnamed European client. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2016. Evergreen increases Asia-East Africa routes
To offer a more comprehensive service on the Asia-East Africa trade, Evergreen Line will adjust its existing AEF joint service and enter into a slot exchange agreement with CMA CGM and Emirates Shipping Line on their ASEA service. Both moves will take effect in December. Seaspan takes delivery of sixth 10000 TEU SAVER
Seaspan Corp. accepted delivery of a 10000 TEU containership, the MOL Breeze. The new containership, which was constructed at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., is Seaspan's sixth 10000 TEU SAVER design containership delivered in 2014.
