Japan’s second largest carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA) launched the fi rst non-stop service between Tokyo- Narita and Mumbai in early September. The airline will offer a six days a week service using a Boeing 737-700ER on the 9,000-km, nine-hour fl ight. Nippon Express Co. and Kintetsu World Express Inc. are considering an alliance in international parcel delivery services for corporate clients, Kyodo News reported. Following a costly two-year delay in the entry into service of the world’s largest passenger jet, Singapore Airlines is to receive the fi rst of 19 Airbus A380s it has ordered on October 15. The aircraft’s fi rst commercial fl ight will take place on October 25 from Singapore to Sydney. HONG KONG: Cathay orders five more B777-300ERs
Cathay Pacifi c Airways said it has ordered fi ve additional Boeing 777- 300ER (Extended Range) aircraft, increasing the airline’s commitment to a total of 23 of the advanced twinengine airplanes. Cathay Pacifi c announced in 2005 that the airline was purchasing 12 777- 300ERs, with four additional operating leases through International Lease Finance Corp. HONG KONG: Swire Pacific, Air China form joint venture
Swire Pacific said it has formed a joint venture with Air China unit Air China Development Corp (Hong Kong) and SkyWorks Capital of the US to provide a range of fi nancial advisory services to the aviation industry throughout the Asia Pacifi c region. Swire said the JV, which will be called SkyWorks Capital, seeks to provide such services to clients such as airlines, banks, lessors and investors.
