CHINA: Chinese airlines lose flights due to delays
The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) said it has taken away one scheduled fl ight each from Air China and China Eastern Airlines out of Beijing Capital International Airport due to repeated delays. The CAAC had issued two warnings previously due to the delays. Three fl ights of Air China and one of China Eastern suffered delays of over 10 hours last month, according to the regulator. CHINA: IDS reports strong results
Integrated Distribution Services (IDS), an integrated-distribution and logistics services provider in Asia, reported a growth in net profi t of 93.1 percent in the fi rst half of the year. The Li & Fung Group company registered a solid profi t of $16.49 million in the fi rst six months, with revenue for the period driven mainly by strong China growth and the acquisition of a US logistics business in November 2006. China will tighten control on the approval of new airlines, cut fl ights at its busiest airport in Beijing and raise safety checks, worried that the industry is expanding dangerously fast, the regulator was quoted as saying in a report by Reuters. Following the successful operation in Nanjing & Tianjin, Dutch freighter specialist Martinair Cargo has extended its network in China with the start of a weekly Boeing 747 freighter service between Xiamen and Amsterdam from last month.
