AirBridgeCargo (ABC) Airlines, a unit of  Volga-Dnepr Group, delivered a record high of 41 RKN containers from Amsterdam to Shanghai onboard the main and lower decks of its Boeing 747-8F for Danish logistics company DSV, a press release confirmed. 

The 41 RKN containers produced by CSafe carried more than 30 tonnes of temperature-sensitive medicines, the company said, noting that the massive shipment, to some extent, acts as a rehearsal to check their capabilities in preparation for a Covid-19 vaccine. 

“For the last five years, we have deepened our cooperation with providers of temperature-sensitive containers and now, in the middle of the pandemic, we are in constant dialogue with our trusted partners, Envirotainer, SkyCell, va-Q-tec, DoKaSch, CSafe, Sonoco and others regarding strategic container reserve,” said Yulia Celetaria, global director for pharma at AirBridgeCargo. 

In the first 6 months, AirBridgeCargo saw a 60% uptick in temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments to surpass the 11,000 tonne level. Last year, the company got its re-certification from IATA’s CEIV Pharma.
