Japan seeks to start direct fl ights linking Tokyo’s domestic airport of Haneda with Shanghai’s Hongqiao by the end of 2007, reducing fl ight time between the cities. Incheon sees massive transhipment rise
A growth in imports and in particular transhipment cargo helped Seoul’s Incheon airport counteract a decline in export volumes in 2006, enabling it to clock up an 8.7 percent increase in cargo volumes to 2,336,571 tonnes for the year and a 9.7 percent yearon year rise in March. Saudi Arabia plans to transform international airports in the Kingdom into state-owned companies, as a step towards privatisation of these airports, Abdullah Ruhaimy, president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) was quoted as saying in a recent Middle East Logistics report.
