Chinese ecommerce giant JD has opened its newest automated logistics park in the autonomous region Ningxia in northwest China on 10 June, the company announced in a press release. The automated warehouse will be mainly used for food, electronics, home appliances, apparel, general merchandise and imported goods and will serve neighboring provinces Qinghai and Gansu. Cainiao, the logistics arm of ecommece giant Alibaba is working on a ‘supply chain pilot zone’ with the Hainan government to help the southern island province develop duty-free services as it makes way to becoming a free-trade port. SATS buys major stake in Thai food manufacturer
Food and gateway services provider SATS is set to buy Thai food company Food City for US$15.9 million ($21 million), the company announced in a press release this week. This will give SATS majority control or 85 percent of the food production company, which includes the 30,000-sqm Pathumthani food production facility. New Malaysian cargo airline Kargo Xpress has started operations with scheduled all-cargo charter flights using its first dedicated freighter, a B737-400F, with a capacity of up to 18 tonnes.
