All Nippon Airways (ANA) has raised its firm orders for Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner to 55 aircraft from 50. The company also said it plans to issue 575 million new shares worth an estimated Â¥182.62 billion (US$1.9 billion) that will be used largely to finance new aircraft. JAPAN: IATA: Asia cargo carriers optimistic of rising demand
The latest Airline Business Confidence Index from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has indicated carriers in Asia are more optimistic of a stabilisation of profitability over the next twelve months, compared with their counterparts inEurope and North America. Blue skies ahead: Carriers in Asia more optimistic than their counterparts elsewhere. Japan’s two largest airlines saw their declines in international cargo volumes continue to slow in May. K+N profits down 16%, but still in the black
Kuehne + Nagel has announced its net profit fell 16.1 per cent in the second quarter compared with a year ago as the global economic slowdown depressed ocean and air freight traffic. The Swiss logistics giant booked net profit of US$120.7 million in the three months to 30 June as revenue slid 21.9 per cent to $3.9 billion.
