Cargo load factors down in May y-o-y
Cargo load factors fell further in May compared to April to an overall 44.3 per cent from 45.1 per cent a year earlier, with Asia Pacific registering the highest load factors at 53.3 per cent, followed by Europe (44.6 per cent), Middle East (43.2 per cent), Latin America (36.7 per cent) and North America (35.3 per cent). AF-KLM sees cargo revenue drop 42% in Q1
Air France-KLM has posted a 20.5 per cent drop in fiscal first-quarter sales this week as the continuing weak economic climate depressed air travel and freight demand. Overall revenue totalled €5.19 billion in the three months to 30 June. Cargo revenue dropped 41.5 per cent to €544 million due to a decline in volumes of 22.7 per cent, a 17.2 per cent cut in capacity and a 25.1 per cent fall in yields. Depressed revenue and bad debts pushed profit in the second quarter down 71 per cent for The world's biggest logistics company as Deutsche Post DHL warned of tough market conditions going forward.
