The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released June figures showing a 1.2 per cent year-on-year expansion in global air freight demand. Although weak, this is a clear improvement when compared to the 0.9 per cent year-on-year demand growth recorded in May and the 0.1 per cent growth realised over the first half of the year. While previously the global economic trend has been defined by robust emerging economies and stagnant growth in developed markets, the strongest improvements … [Read more...] about IATA's June figures offer hope with 1.2% expansion

IATA warns of slower cargo growth
Global air cargo growth will slow sharply over the next year and a half after staging a stunningly rapid recovery from the international trade downturn, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said in its recent Cargo E-Chartbook. International air cargo traffic, which has been growing at more than 20 per cent year-over-year each month since the end of the third quarter last year, was 4 per cent ahead of the pre-downturn peak of 2008 in July, IATA said. IATA now forecasts air freight … [Read more...] about IATA warns of slower cargo growth
IATA success in standardising cargo liability
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced the standardisation of cargo liability limits. IATA blasts Europe again over volcanic crisis
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) called on European governments and air navigation service providers to urgently develop more precise procedures to identify ash contaminated air space and allow more flights. The call came in the wake of 1,000 flight cancellations on Monday (17 May) as a result of the continued volcanic eruptions in Iceland. “This problem is not going away any time soon. The current European-wide system to decide on airspace closures is not working. We … [Read more...] about IATA blasts Europe again over volcanic crisis
