Heathrow sees June cargo improvement
London Heathrow reported a drop in cargo traffic of 14.5 per cent in June from a year ago to 103,400 tonnes, an improvement on the 19.2 per cent drop in May. London Stansted, similarly reported a traffic drop of 14.8 per cent in June to 15,271 tonnes, a slight improvement on the 15.4 per cent decline in May. BAA accuses competition authorities of bias
UK airports operator BAA has said it will appeal the UK Competition Commission’s ruling that it must sell both London Gatwick and Stansted and either Edinburgh or Glasgow International, claiming the decision was both “affected by apparent bias†and failed to account for the current economic climate. Mexicana appoints GSA for new London service
Mexicana has appointed Globe Air Cargo as its exclusive general sales agent in the UK to market capacity on its new, direct flights from London Gatwick to Mexico City. The Mexican Airline commenced twice-weekly flights from London on 18 January to Mexico City's Benito Juarez Airport using Boeing 767-200 aircraft. The Thursday and Sunday departures each provide up to seven tonnes of cargo capacity.
