Scoot, the Singapore Airlines long-haul, low-cost carrier (LCC), has announced it will start flying to Europe for the first time next summer. Overall cargo load factor (CLF) for SIA Cargo was 0.7 percentage points higher in the month of May, year-on-year, with growth in cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres) of 4.7 per cent exceeding overall capacity increase of 3.6 per cent. Scoot opens Melbourne route with B787
Singapore-based low-cost carrier and Singapore Airlines subsidiary, Scoot, received a traditional water cannon welcome on Sunday, when its B787 Dreamliner aircraft arrived at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport. This marked the start of a new scheduled service to Australia's second largest city, with flights operating five times a week, rising to daily in peak travel periods. Thailand’s NokScoot eying Hawaiian route
Bangkok-based NokScoot is planning to cooperate with Singapore joint venture partner Scoot on planned flights to Hawaii. Patee Sarasin, the CEO of the budget carrier's Thai partner Nok Air, said that while NokScoot could deploy its fleet of B777-200ERs on flights to Honolulu, it would prefer to use Scoot's more economical fleet of B787s. Scoot, the Singapore-based long-haul, low-cost division of Singapore Airlines, has added two new Asian cities to its route map: Osaka and Kaohsiung. The carrier started flying to Osaka on 8 July with the B787 Dreamliner service running three times a week with a stop in Bangkok. SIA cargo traffic up 4.3% in April
Singapore Airlines reported April cargo traffic (measured in FTK) rose 4.3 per cent year-on-year to 517.3 million, as compared to a 4.7 per cent increase in capacity. Cargo load factor slipped 0.3 percentage points to 61.4 per cent last month. Load factor improved for South West Pacific (5.9 per cent) and West Asia/Africa (3.3 per cent) regions, but fell for East Asia, Americas and Europe, as demand did not keep pace with capacity changes.
