Singapore Airlines Cargo sees slight gains in May
Overall cargo load factor (CLF) for SIA Cargo was 0.7 percentage points higher in the month of May, year-on-year, with growth in cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres) of 4.7 per cent exceeding overall capacity increase of 3.6 per cent. SIA cargo traffic up 4.3% in April
Singapore Airlines reported April cargo traffic (measured in FTK) rose 4.3 per cent year-on-year to 517.3 million, as compared to a 4.7 per cent increase in capacity. Cargo load factor slipped 0.3 percentage points to 61.4 per cent last month. Load factor improved for South West Pacific (5.9 per cent) and West Asia/Africa (3.3 per cent) regions, but fell for East Asia, Americas and Europe, as demand did not keep pace with capacity changes. SINGAPORE: First quarterly loss in six years for SIA
Singapore Airlines has posted its fi rst quarterly loss since 2003, with a S$307.1 million (US$212.6 million) loss that compared to a S$358.6 million profit in the fiscal first quarter of 2008-09. The global economic downturn, swine flu and unfavorable fuel hedges dragged the carrier into the red.
