German air cargo handling companies have formed an association to represent common interests toward policy, public authorities and the media. Called VACAD, which stands for the German "Verband der Aircargo Abfertiger Deutschlands" or German air cargo handling agents association ¨C the new body has 14 founder members, who provide air cargo handling at airports throughout the country.
The VACAD executive board includes Dr J¨¹rgen Vogt, managing director of LHU in Hamburg who has been elected as first chairman, while Winfried Hartmann from Fraport Cargo Services and Wolfgang Korte from LUG AirCargo Handling, both from Frankfurt Main, will act as his deputies. The newly launched association further represents ACL from Frankfurt-Hahn airport, ASH from Hanover, Aviapartner Germany, CargoGate from Munich, CSB from Berlin, Dortmund Airport, FMO-Cargo Services from M¨¹nster- Osnabr¨¹ck, Lufthansa Cargo AG, Portground from Leipzig, Swissport Germany and WFS Germany. VACAD will be based in Frankfurt Main.
