Swissport said it has been certified asa fully compliant Cargo 2000 company,and that its internal management processesand quality-driven improvementprogrammes have been accepted by theCargo 2000 Board.
Cargo 2000 brings together majorairlines, freight forwarders and theirsuppliers with the goal of implementingstandardised quality managementsystems.
Based on detailed customer researchand with the assistance of leading ITcompanies, the Cargo 2000 group hasre-engineered the transportation processfrom shipper to consignee througha "master operating plan".
"This quality system will help Swissport’sCargo Division to maintain andgrow market share by enabling itscustomers to control and monitor today’sadvanced time-definitive servicesthroughout the global forwarder andairline network. And we are proud tobe the first ground handling providerin our industry to have earned this certification,"says Michel Jansen, executivevice president and head of global cargoat Swissport International.
Having obtained Cargo 2000 certificationat the headquarters level,Swissport will be conducting an implementationprogramme over the nextfew months to adapt these rules andprocedures to all the cargo destinationsthroughout its global network.
Revenues of Swissport Cargo Servicesfor 2006 increased by some 11percent on the previous year.
