Sodexi, the Paris-based specialist express handling company, is successfully developing its new version of a software package for total computerised management of postal traffic. This latest application allows the automated handling of all tasks required including the tracking of shipments and at the same time conforming to all the current security rules.
The software application is integrated into the transport chain starting with the reception of packages, scanning, sorting, consolidation, loading of containers, not forgetting invoicing and tracing.
Air France/KLM at Paris CDG as well as some other carriers, are already using the new system which contributes to the ability to compete on certain destinations with a service as fast as and cheaper than the integrators.
“Only by applying this electronic data to the individual mail sacks, can rapid clearance on a par with the private sector be achieved.” said Jean Francois Bouilhaguet managing director of Sodexi. “In recent years, some Postal authorities have organised themselves in zones managed by IT systems. They have cast aside the old bureaucratic traditional links with the airlines.
The documents known as AV7 and later CN 38 have been progressively replaced by bar code labels. This bar code contains all the vital data needed for the preparation of the mail bags, delivery to the airlines, loaded onto the aircraft plus tracking and tracing,” Bouilhaguet added.
