Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) said that tonnage throughput for the fi rst half of 2007 was 293,983 tonnes, a slight decline of 0.2 percent in overall volume handled when compared with the same period last year. Cumulative export cargo from January to June 2007 was 197,108 tonnes, recorded an increase of 0.5 percent compared against corresponding periodprevious year.

Aggregate import tonnage for the fi rst half of 2007 was 94,660 tonnes, down 0.2 percent. Total transhipment volume recorded 2,216 tonnes; resulting in a drop of 38.5 percent against the same period last year.

A total of 55,287 tonnes was handled in June, recorded a growth of 6 percent compared with the same month last year. Export cargo registered 36,274 tonnes, representing a year on-year growth of 3 percent. Import cargo volume for June was 18,628 tonnes, recorded an increase of 12 percent from last year. Transhipment cargo volume was 385 tonnes, a decline by 41 percent when compared against corresponding period in 2006.
