The Philippine government plans to convert a former US naval base in Cavite City, south Manila into an air and sea international logistics hub. President Arroyo has ordered the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to develop the 4,000-hectare Sangley Point at a cost of 40 billion pesos including a reclamation work, Business World reported.
The PRA has been tasked to evaluate proposals from the private sector and conduct a selection and bidding process as well as obtaining titles of the land reclaimed.
The proposed air and sea transport hub would be able to accommodate bigger aircraft on three runways and bigger vessels for a port. – Edu Lopez
