Nippon Express Co. and Kintetsu World Express Inc. are considering an alliance in international parcel delivery services for corporate clients, Kyodo News reported.
The two leading logistics providers in Japan said they are also discussing a tie-up with air carriers, including Japan Airlines, for services to deliver documents and parts for manufacturers and other Japanese companies engaged in cross-border operations in Asia. An industry analyst said the two fi rms are willing to cooperate in expanding their share of the international parcel market, which is dominated by US and European giants.
Demand is expected to increase for parcel deliveries to and from Japan on air service expansions, including Kansai International Airport’s shift to 24-hour operations last week.
