The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) announced that it has decided to expel two of its members because they failed to pay membership fees for the past three years.
The Malaysia-based Airfreight Forwarders Association of Malaysia (AFAM) and the Association Marocaine des Transitaires Internationaux of Marocco were expelled because both failed to pay more than US$10,000 in annual membership fees for the past three years. FIATA members pay an annual fee of $3,500.
The announcement about the default was made at FIATA’s Annual General Meeting, which has been held in Dubai over the past five days.
Outgoing president of FIATA, Manfred Boesch said that if the two organisations paid their respective outstanding fees, FIATA would reconsider its decision.
