ASML Holding NV headquartered in the Netherlands has chosen Incheo nAirport as the site of a new warehouse to store parts for semi conductor manufacturing machines which will be shipped globally. ASML is the world’s third largest manufacturer of advanced technology systems for the semi conductor industry and the leader in sales of lithography systems.
ASML chose to locate its new Asian distribution hub at Incheon Airport in2007 in order to better serve its Asian customers by minimising service times for spares. The Korean government expects that this new facility will act asa catalyst for companies in the field to move their hubs to Incheon.
“The Incheon warehouse will eliminate parts transit from the Netherlands, typically improving delivery times to Asian customers by 16-30 hours” said Sunny Stalnaker, vice president customer support at ASML.
Incheon Airport Customs and Korea Customs have introduced a piece-unit clearance system which significantly reduced re-export time from 4 hours to one and a half-hour and other government agencies have also simplified export procedures.
“Incheon Airport provides the most massive air connection in Asia with 70 airlines. Recently we have reduced landing charges by 10 per cent, rental fees by 21 per cent and electrical facility charge by 100 per cent for 3 years to have the most competitive airport user charges in North East Asia,” said Deok-Mo Jeong, vice-president of Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC).
Incheon Airport took the first placein Airport Service Quality survey held by Airports Council International (ACI) for three consecutive years.
