Swissport International, a leading provider of ground handling services for the air transport sector, has appointed Rudolf Steiner as senior vice president Middle East and Asia within its Cargo Services division. He assumes his duties on 1 November.

Steiner (46) joined the airfreight industry in 1985 and has acquired valuable experience and market knowledge by working in various capacities for airlines, forwarders and handling companies. Steiner comes to Swissport from Cargologic, where he has served as EVP Marketing and Sales. He knows Swissport very well as he was with the company from 2005 until earlier this year as SVP Global Sales & Key Account Management in the Cargo division and initially helped to build up the freight business with a remarkable success.

“We are delighted to have Ruedi back in the Cargo division where he will be responsible for developing our network in the Middle East and Asia and be a key contributor to the management team,” said John Batten, executive vice president Global Cargo, who recently joined Swissport from Qatar Airways.
