The airport has also attracted new airlines including Aerosvit, Orenair and Icelandair who have chosen Düsseldorf airport to develop their summer routes. Air Berlin has expanding its long haul routes to North America from Düsseldorf with four weekly flights to New York’s JFK from 3 April, increasing to daily from May.
The carrier will also be flying three times per week to Los Angeles and five per week to Miami plus three per week to Fort Myers, as well as Vancouver. The carrier’s air freight is handled by Leisure Cargo.
Lufthansa also operates a number of flights through Düsseldorf to the US and Canada with A340 equipment.
