A number of Chinese private courier companies have increased the prices of their express delivery services by between one to two yuan (US$0.15-$0.30) per kilogramme to meet increases in oil prices and higher labour costs, according to the China Daily. Domestic operators including: Shentong Express, Shanghai Yuan Tong Express, Yunda Express and ZTO Express have all published statements on their websites. The price hike will directly impact the profits of millions of online store owners, especially those who run their online business at Taobao.com — the biggest online commercial site in China, according to the report.
