The Air Transport Association of America (ATA) has applauded the US Senate’s final passage of the Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010, a comprehensive financial- and commodities-reform bill aimed in part, at curbing commodities speculation that have led to volatile fuel prices. “We applaud the Senate’s action…which will close the door on Wall Street’s high-risk gambling and unchecked commodities speculation that led to sky-high fuel prices,†said ATA president and CEO James C. May. “Energy prices should be determined by supply and demand, not manipulation and secretive trading by investment banks,†he added.
