Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI), has announced that it has been selected by Transmile Air Services of Malaysia to provide one B737-200SF 8 Pallet Configuration, Passenger to Freighter Conversion. The aircraft, a B737-200, was built in 1987 and will be their second AEI converted freighter. Transmiles’ first AEI Freighter Conversion, a B737-209SF was completed by Commercial Jet in March 2005. The aircraft is currently undergoing freighter modification and heavy maintenance at AEI’s Authorised Conversion Center, Commercial Jet, Inc. which is located in Miami, Florida.

“The induction of the Transmile B737- 200, along with three other B737’s earlier this year demonstrates that the freighter conversion market is beginning to return to normal and that cargo airlines are seeing real demand which requires additional lift,” said Robert T. Convey, VP of Sales & Marketing for AEI. AEI is currently the only conversion company that offers B737-200 conversions worldwide and to date AEI has converted 19 B737-200SF aircraft for six customers.
