Jetstar last week began using its most recent B787 delivery to replace an A330 on service from Cairns to Osaka, Japan. The low-cost carrier (LCC) also introduced a B787 on its Cairns-Tokyo route in August, and on its Gold Coast-Tokyo flight in July.
Aside from the Japan routes, Jetstar has introduced 787s on routes from the three major east coast cities of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Thailand and Indonesia. The LCC continues to grow its fleet with the delivery of seven B787-8s, and has four more scheduled to be delivered.
Jetstar expects to complete the replacement of all of its A330s by the end of 2015, with the A330s being transferred to parent Qantas for mainline service.
